Dresses often had an "hourglass" shape, with a belt used to cinch the waist. Pencil skirts were also a common choice, along with skirt suits, capri pants, flats, pillbox hats and fascinators, cat eye-framed eyewear, and stiletto heels. Fashion subcultures of the time include Rockabilly, Greaser fashion, and the beginnings of the preppy Ivy League style.
