A symbol used as a good-luck charm in Chinese-speaking countries. It consists of the "福" character (the good fortune symbol) being placed upside down. Commonly seen on the square-shaped Chinese New Year decoration, the doufang. Dao fu (dao, lit. "upside-down", and fu, "fortune" or "good luck") is a homonym of 到福 ("fortune arrives") in Chinese (and most dialects of Chinese).
