Commelina, commonly called dayflower, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Commelinaceae. Commonly represented by Commelina communis (Asiatic dayflower), native to East and Southeast Asia. Commelinas are small flowers that are usually blue, but they also come in shades of white, yellow, purple, and pink. The flowers emerge from a boat-like sheath called a spathe that surrounds the flower stem.
