The M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) is a armored tracked self-propelled multiple rocket launcher developed for the U.S. Army. It can carry two ammunition pods that each consist of either the 6-rocket Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) or the 1-missile Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), and are interchangeable with the M142 HIMARS which carries one ammunition pod. The GMLRS has a range up to 57.2 miles (92 km) while the ATACMS has a range up to 190 miles (300 km). As of 2019 the US has been upgrading their existing M270's to the M270A2.
