The Steyr AUG (Armee Universal Gewehr, "Universal Army Rifle") is family of Austrian 5.56×45mm NATO bullpup weapons adopted in 1977. The most common type is the assault rifle, though other types were developed alongside it. The weapon features a very large trigger guard that covers the pistol grip, a tubular vertical foregrip and an integrated optical sight in most models. It's distinctive stock is monolithic and entirely polymer, very unusual for the time.
