A Chinese youth subculture associated with the underground music scene that arose in the late 2010s, borrowing heavily from Y2K fashion and streetwear. Yabi literally means "subculture bitch", and is a rebellious movement emphasizing personal expression. It has an eclectic and maximalist appearance, and is primarily based in the deconstruction and reappropriation of existing styles into something different. While yabi is very eclectic, there are still recurring common elements, such as leg warmers, the use of layering, lots of accessories, cat hats, thin scarves, and denim.
