A tank or tank-like armored military vehicle featuring a casemate (turretless) design, with the main gun mounted directly within the hull of the vehicle instead of in a rotating turret. Advantages of such designs were that they were mechanically simpler than turreted designs, less costly to produce, lighter in weight, and lower in profile. Due to taking up less weight in the design, heavier armor and/or armaments could be added onto the chassis.
